Looking back
This week in English, we have started exploring our new story Grandad’s Island. We began by looking carefully at objects linked to the story and used these clues to make predictions about what the book might be about. We also started gathering information about some of the animals that appear in Grandad’s Island, preparing to write about them using facts.
Looking forward
In our upcoming English lessons, we will continue exploring Grandad’s Island. As our writing outcome, the children will be writing their own information sentences and building towards an information text.
Ask your child
Can you find an animal at home (in a book or online) and write three facts about it?
Spellings:
bath
path
plant
clothes
busy
because
again
hour
Looking back
This week in maths, we have been learning about measuring length and height. The learners really enjoyed the hands-on activities, where they estimated the length of different classroom objects and then measured them to check how accurate their estimates were. They also measured each other’s heights and recorded the results, comparing how many centimetres taller or shorter they were than their peers.
Looking forward
We will be continuing our learning on length and height. The learners will be ordering objects from shortest to longest and tallest to shortest, using their growing mathematical knowledge and vocabulary to compare and describe different measurements.
Ask your child
How did you measure length and height in maths this week? What tools did you use?
KIRF's Key Instant Recall Facts. For this half term, the 2, 5 and 10 Times Tables. Your child should practise this on a regular basis at home.

Looking back
This week we have started learning about objects and the materials they are made from. We also started to talk about the words we can use to describe the material eg flexible, hard, soft etc. We started by looking around our class and identifying what different objects were made from then
Ask your child
To identify objects around them that are made from more than one material.
What is their favourite clothes made from?
Could those objects be made from anything else? Would it be any better, stronger, lighter or heavier?
Looking back
This week we have been preparing for our KS1 show Eddie the Penguin Saves the World. All classes have been learning their song with actions.
Looking forward
Our rehearsals will continue with a focus on learners reading lines with confidence and intonation.
Ask your child
Can they recall their class song to you? How do they sing in a loud voice without shouting? What does Stage Ready look like?
At Nadeen, we value strong partnerships with our families and your feedback plays an important role in our continuous improvement journey.
Our Parent Happiness & Feedback Survey has been designed to help us better understand your child’s experience across wellbeing, learning, communication and community.

Dear Parents,
The Ministry of Health and Education of Bahrain, requires that all learners joining Grade 1 which is Year 2 must have a compulsory medical health check examination completed and signed by a doctor in Bahrain in order for an early detection for any chronic disease.
Please attach a letter sent by the Health Care Centers.
I would be grateful if the examination form could be sent to me no later than 15th of February (new deadline) 2026 to nurse@nadeenschool.com, including your child’s name and class with a copy of the latest updated vaccination record. Please see more information here.
I appreciate your cooperation with this mandatory health record.
Please find here the External PAID ECA Providers at Nadeen School for Term 2.
In Year 2, our new topic for this half term begins with learning colours.
We whispered, shouted and chanted our new words then enjoyed seeing the colours appear in a song.
Everyone then enjoyed playing
As part of International Week, Year 2 discovered Gamelan music from Indonesia. They learned about instruments such as gongs, sarons and kendang, and then tried performing on different percussion instruments themselves.
