We continued our journey as budding Egyptologists, researching fascinating artefacts in preparation for our upcoming diary writing. Using pages from our class book, we identified key facts and important details about life in Ancient Egypt. Building on this knowledge, we explored technical vocabulary and combined it with our research to create amazing, detailed sentences that really brought history to life!
Our focus will be on spelling adverbs, adding -ly words ending in 'le'
Our spelling words are:
gently
simply
humbly
horribly
terribly
possibly
incredibly
comfortably
This week, we have focused on making connections between numbers and using column addition and subtraction with 3-digit numbers (no exchange). The children have been carefully lining up their ones, tens, and hundreds to ensure accurate calculations and enjoyed applying their skills across a range of problems.
Great effort this week, Year 3!
We finished up our diet and nutrition topic this week looking at herbivore, carnivore and omnivore diets for animals. The learners created posters or leaflets with the definitions and images on for each one. Next week, we will begin our movement topic!
This week, Year 3 have continued their journey through Ancient Egypt. Learners placed key events from the Egyptian era on a timeline, helping them understand the order of significant moments in history. The learners also explored the importance of the River Nile. To finish the week, learners began looking at hieroglyphics, discovering how the Ancient Egyptians used symbols to communicate and record their ideas.

Well done to our Year 3 Wolves of the Week.
Learners were keen to say which animals they did and did not like using 'j'aime' and 'je n'aime pas'.
They then completed a worksheet, matching the animal word to the picture as this is a great way of developing reading skills: the learners were quick to point out that French doesn't follow the same pronunciation rules as English!
Next week, we will write some sentences to say which animals we like and which we don't.
In Year 3, learners have been learning to identify different Gamelan instruments and match them to their descriptions. They listened carefully to the sounds each instrument makes and discussed how they are played, such as striking, hitting, or gently tapping. Using pictures and sound clips, the class explored instruments like the gong, kendang drum, and metallophones, noticing how each one has its own unique tone and role in an ensemble. Learners then worked in small groups to match the instrument names with written descriptions, developing both their listening skills and their understanding of traditional Indonesian music.

Dear Parents,
We would like to create a database of parents' expertise and professional backgrounds to enhance our school's activities. If you're interested in contributing and sharing your knowledge with our learners, please indicate how you would like to be involved by filling out this survey here.
Please find here the External PAID ECA Providers at Nadeen School for Term 1.
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
