Looking back
This week we completed writing our instruction texts. It has been an journey where we have learned how to identify features of instruction text.
We now know that instructions texts have a title, an introduction telling us what it will be about and questions to encourage someone to read on. We also learned how to use bullet points and how to number instructions in order of caction, that started with imperative verbs. We also added 'Handy Hints' that was additional detail to make our creatures happy.
Looking forward
In our upcoming English lessons, we will be exploring our new text Grandad’s Island. As our writing outcome, the learners will be writing an information text, learning how to inform the reader using facts, clear sentences, and key vocabulary.
In writing, we will also be revisiting language features from previous learning, including adjectives and suffixes ending in -er and -est to help the children describe the animals found in Grandad’s Island.
Ask your child
Write an instruction on how to make a sandwich? A simple meal? A smoothie?
How is an information text different from a story?
Can you use an adjective or a word ending in -er or -est to describe something from a story?
Spellings:

We will be exploring a range of exciting measuring topics. We will begin by learning about length and height, comparing and measuring objects using standard units. We will then investigate mass, weighing different items and using language such as heavier and lighter. We will also explore capacity, finding out how much different containers can hold to measure volume. Finally, we will look at temperature, learning how to read scales and describe hot and cold.
Ask your child

Can they 'prove it'?

In our upcoming Science topic we will be exploring Materials. We will be looking at the different types that make things that we use. We will be having deep discussions about their purpose and why certain things are made from those materials.
Ask your child
To identify objects around them that are made from glass, plastic, paper, cardboard and metal.
Can they suggest any reasons why those materials were the best to make things from?
Could those objects be made from anything else? Would it be any better, stronger, lighter or heavier?

On Wednesday, Nadeen proudly hosted the 2026 Bahrain Eco-Summit as part of the growing collaboration established by the Bahrain Sustainable Schools Partnership (BSSP).
We were honoured to welcome 14 schools and over 100 learners to our campus, coming together to share ideas, collaborate and explore meaningful approaches to sustainability.
Founded in 2023, the Eco-Summit has quickly become a key event in Bahrain’s school calendar, uniting schools, sustainability partners and local organisations with a shared purpose: strengthening environmental education and empowering young people to lead positive change.
Through learner-led presentations, hands-on workshops and collaborative discussions, the Summit provided a powerful reminder that real progress happens when communities work together.
By hosting this year’s event, Nadeen reaffirms its commitment to nurturing environmentally responsible learners and supporting partnerships that help build a more sustainable future for Bahrain.
Dear Parents,
The Ministry of Health and Education of Bahrain, requires that all learners joining Grade 1 which is Year 2 must have a compulsory medical health check examination completed and signed by a doctor in Bahrain in order for an early detection for any chronic disease.
Please attach a letter sent by the Health Care Centers.
I would be grateful if the examination form could be sent to me no later than 15th of February (new deadline) 2026 to nurse@nadeenschool.com, including your child’s name and class with a copy of the latest updated vaccination record. Please see more information here.
I appreciate your cooperation with this mandatory health record.
Please find here the External PAID ECA Providers at Nadeen School for Term 2.
On Monday, we were delighted to host TeachMeet 5: The AI Edition, bringing educators together to explore the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education.
Led by AI Transformation Leader Luis I. Cortes, the session considered AI within both a global and regional context, while keeping a clear focus on what matters most, ensuring technology enhances learning without replacing the human relationships, judgement and care that define great education.
The event reflects our ongoing commitment to thoughtful innovation and our High Performance Learning approach, preparing learners to be adaptable, reflective and confident in a rapidly changing world.
As part of our wonderful International Week, learners took part in a French food tasting activity.
We began by talking about what French children like to eat for breakfast and compared this to what we normally eat in the mornings.
Learners were then invited to taste croissant, baguettes, cheese (brie) and jam (Confiture Bonne Maman Fraises).
We wished one another a 'bon appétit' and practised saying what we liked and what we didn't like.
As part of International Week, Year 2 discovered Gamelan music from Indonesia. They learned about instruments such as gongs, sarons and kendang, and then tried performing on different percussion instruments themselves.
