Up and Coming Dates:
Friday, 9th January - BSME U11 Netball (Hosting) Rugby Club
Wednesday, 14th of January - Inclusion Workshop 8:15AM
Saturday, 17th of January - Beach Clean Up
This week, we began our new English unit by analysing a selection of mysterious objects found in the classroom, including a candle, a muddy shirt, a piece of wood with a claw mark and a ripped map. Learners made predictions about what might have happened based on these items. They then read different extracts from The Hound of the Baskervilles, each ending on a cliffhanger. After reading, learners summarised the extracts and identified and highlighted any new vocabulary they had learned.
This week in Maths, learners explored equivalent fractions, including both unit and non-unit fractions, developing their understanding of the relationship between the numerator and the denominator. Learners then began converting improper fractions into mixed number fractions, focusing on how the whole and fractional parts are represented.
This week in Science, learners conducted their own scientific investigation to explore whether the mass of an object affects its gravitational pull. They used two identical water bottles filled with different volumes of water. Learners weighed each bottle and recorded its mass before using a Newton meter to measure the gravitational pull. They then analysed their results and wrote a conclusion based on the evidence they gathered.
This week in Enquiry Learning, learners researched a fairground ride of their choice, making notes on key information. Learners were then given an image of a fairground ride and learned how to identify its key features, such as the main components. This unit will link to our Science learning on forces, helping learners to make meaningful connections between how fairground rides work and the scientific principles behind them.

This week, learners explored parts of the school and learned new vocabulary related to the classroom, library, playground, and canteen. They also practised building short and simple sentences using this vocabulary.
Next week, learners will move on to learning about school tools. They will identify the names of different tools and practise using them in simple sentences, with a focus on developing reading and writing skills.
Home learning: A new task has been added to the Bravo Bravo platform.
Year 5 learners have made super progress since we began our weekly French sessions at the start of the school year.
Trying to pronounce new words correctly in a foreign language can be quite daunting so it's been wonderful to see how their confidence has grown and how even the shyer members of classes are keener to have a go.
After the break, I will look forward to sharing more songs and games to build on what we have already learnt and to introduce lots of exciting new vocabulary.
Bonne Année/Happy New to you all!
A group of enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 musicians enjoyed an inspiring trip to the Bahrain National Theatre, where they attended an educational concert performed by the Bahrain National Orchestra. During the visit, the learners learnt about the different sections of the orchestra and how each family of instruments contributes to the overall sound. They were captivated by a programme that featured traditional Arabic music alongside well-known pieces from the stage and screen, giving them a rich and varied musical experience. The trip left the young musicians buzzing with excitement and a deeper appreciation for orchestral music.
ECOVENTURE, UAE 2026

Thank you for your continued support in helping us make this a happy and memorable experience for all our learners!
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
