This week, we have been reading a delightful new book - The Bog Baby. The story follows two curious friends who discover a magical creature in a hidden pond and decide to take it home to care for it.
We will be using this story as a springboard for writing instructions on how to build a home for a Bog Baby. Learners will explore the features of instructional texts, including sequencing and imperative verbs (commands).
We will also revisit and reinforce previously taught skills such as: expanded noun phrases to describe materials and settings and adverbs to explain how actions should be carried out
You can watch a reading of this story at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD7b4L-yVBA

In Science this week, we started our new topic on Habitats. The learners were introduced to what a habitat is and began by exploring our local habitat around the school grounds. They observed the living things they could find and completed observational drawings of plants and animals in our local area.
This week in Enquiry Learning, the children have begun an exciting new topic focusing on Computing and Design Technology. They have been exploring different types of technology used both at home and in school, and discussing how to stay safe when using technology.
As part of the Design Technology element of our learning, we will be creating models. If you have any empty boxes at home, we would greatly appreciate these being sent into school for the children to use.
Thank you for your continued support.

Year 2 learners have made super progress since we began our weekly French sessions at the start of the school year.
Trying to pronounce new words correctly in a foreign language can be quite daunting so it's been wonderful to see how their confidence has grown and how even the shyer members of classes are keener to have a go.
After the break, I will look forward to sharing more songs and games to build on what we have already learnt and to introduce lots of exciting new vocabulary.
Bonne Année/Happy New to you all!
Year 2 learners explored how music can tell a story by reading a graphic score that depicts the journey of a train. They learned to follow symbols representing different sounds, such as chugging wheels, whistles and fast-moving sections. Working together, they used their voices to perform each part in sequence, building confidence as they matched the shapes on the score to the changing moods of the train’s journey.
