This week in English, learners drew upon all the writer’s knowledge they have developed throughout the unit to begin planning their formal letter. They organised their plan into five clear sections, outlining the structure of their letter. Using key phrases and important vocabulary, learners noted what they intend to include in each paragraph, setting themselves up for next weeks written work.
This week in Maths, learners began their new unit on multiplication and division. We started by exploring different multiples and identifying patterns, helping learners make clear connections to their times tables. This foundational work will support them as we move further into the unit and apply these skills to more complex problems.
This week in Science, learners compared and explained the uses of metal, plastic and wood based on their different properties. They discussed which materials were most suitable for specific purposes and justified their choices using scientific reasoning. Learners then put this knowledge into practice by designing and creating a protective container to prevent an item from breaking during a fall.
This week in Enquiry Learning, Year 5 explored the world of Viking shields through a range of primary and secondary sources. Learners investigated the purpose and importance of shields in Viking life, considering how they were used for protection, identity, and symbolism. Inspired by their findings, learners then designed and created their own Viking shields using cardboard, decorating them with authentic colours and patterns that reflected traditional Viking styles.

This week, learners explored the topic “My Clothes” in Arabic. They learned the names of different clothes, such as shirt, trousers, dress, and hat, and practised using simple sentences to describe what they wear.
Next week, learners will explore the topic “Jobs” in Arabic. They will learn the names of simple jobs such as teacher, doctor, policeman, and seller, and practise using simple sentences to describe the job, such as “هو طبيب” and “هي معلمة”.
Project information: Learners are required to work on their project “My Journey to Discover the World Around Me”, an interactive project designed to enhance Arabic language skills in a fun and creative way. You can find all project details, assessment criteria, submission dates, and full instructions through this link.
A new task has been added to the Bravo Bravo platform: “the clothes and color.”
This week was all about practising our oral skills through games. Our main activity was rolling the dice and matching the number to the body part written on the IWB. Learners put this together with 'J'ai mal' to say what was hurting them.
Next week, we will be doing some listening practise and answering some questions on what we hear.
A group of enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 musicians enjoyed an inspiring trip to the Bahrain National Theatre, where they attended an educational concert performed by the Bahrain National Orchestra. During the visit, the learners learnt about the different sections of the orchestra and how each family of instruments contributes to the overall sound. They were captivated by a programme that featured traditional Arabic music alongside well-known pieces from the stage and screen, giving them a rich and varied musical experience. The trip left the young musicians buzzing with excitement and a deeper appreciation for orchestral music.

We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
