This week we have been consolidating comparing numbers on a blank number line. We have also been applying our knowledge of number bonds to help us carry out addition.
Home learning
All learners should be able to quickly recall Number Bonds to 10.
If your child is confident with Number Bonds to 10, they should practice Number Bonds to 20.
They could use the pattern-finding technique with their knowledge of Bonds to 10:
1+ 9=10 2 + 8 =10
1+19=20 2 + 18=20
This week in Science, we completed our unit on healthy eating, hygiene, and teeth. The children learned how to maintain a balanced diet and why it’s important to keep their bodies and teeth clean. They also discovered how easily germs can spread through our ‘glitter germ’ investigation and talked about real-life examples such as COVID. To finish the unit, the learners made flapjacks, putting their knowledge of healthy choices into practice, they all gave a big thumbs up when it was time to taste them!
This week in Enquiry Learning, Year Two learners have been investigating old Victorian toys. They began by identifying and describing what these toys were made from and how they were used. Learners then observed and sketched the toys using pencil techniques to show detail, shape, and texture.

We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
In case of any questions, please contact directly support@paywithspare.com
Super French sessions from Year 2 this week as they showed off their number skills with a quiz on mini whiteboards.
We also played some games to practise our greetings and to say our names.
At the Learner Conference, many parents asked what they could do to support their child's French learning at home. Songs are an incredibly useful tool as it helps the learners to learn vocabulary in an engaging and memorable way whist also providing an accurate guide to pronunciation. Some of the songs that we have looked at to help learn greetings and numbers are:

Though, of course, please do prep first before showing at home to ensure that there are no inappropriate ads.
After the half term break, we are going to be introducing days of the week.
Nadeen School Annual Festive Fair
We are delighted to let you know that we are hosting this event again on Friday November 28th from 11am-4pm at Dilmunia, the home of our brand new, state-of-the-art campus.
On this day children, parents, staff and friends will come to our fair for a fun family day. We have games and prizes for the children, independent vendors offering various products for sale, food stalls, and a raffle. Last year we had over 2000 visitors to our Fair and it was an incredibly well-attended, well-enjoyed event; we are expecting even more visitors this year!
One of our largest fundraisers during the year is our Festive Fair Raffle. If you or your company could donate a raffle prize, such as a voucher, gift, gift certificate or hamper, it would be greatly appreciated by Nadeen School children, parents and staff. Should you be interested in sponsoring our event, please let us know by emailing v.trindade@nadeenschool.com and ks1-parentboard@nadeenschool.com
