English

We continued exploring our focus text, A River by Marc Martin, this week. Learners thought carefully about the sights and sounds of a river, building vivid pictures in their minds. In English, we focused on using subordinating clauses to add detail and depth to our writing. For example: The water seemed to be flowing faster, or it might have been his imagination.

Maths

In Maths, we are continuing to explore the value of numbers. We have been focusing on the number of groups of tens and ones in a number. For example, 73 is seven groups of ten and 3 ones. We have been using different concrete manipulatives and started to draw representations and partitioning using Part-Part-Whole models.

Science

This week in Science, we have been learning about fish and amphibians, comparing their features and linking back to what we already know about mammals. The children really enjoyed the hands-on activities and especially had fun working together to design and create their very own class creature.

Home learning

All learners should be able to quickly recall Number Bonds to 10.

A quick game is

'Who's best friends with?'

Show or say a number of fingers and your child's response should be the corresponding number of fingers that can be added to make 10.

For example - show 3 fingers and your child should respond with 7 fingers. Or say '3' and your child should quickly respond '7' - as 3 +7 = 10,

Spellings

Spelling practice. Your child could draw, paint, sing or write them! A spelling quiz will take place every Thursday morning.

Canteen Acess for Primary Learners

Please note that our canteen is available only from Year 4 onwards.

Primary learners in Year 4 and Year 6 will be able to start using the canteen after the half term.

All canteen cards that have been ordered for Primary learners will be held securely by the school all the time.

For parents who ordered the cards for Early Years up to Year 3, refunds will be processed though the app, and a notification will be sent to you account in the app.

Let Us Know If Your Child Is Absent – New Email!

We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.

SMS TEST

Dear Parents,

As part of our regular health and safety procedures and our ongoing commitment to maintaining accurate records, we will be sending a test SMS to all parents this Sunday at 10:00 AM.

This is a routine check to ensure our contact information is up to date and that we can reach all families promptly in the event of an emergency or important communication.

No action is required unless you do not receive the SMS. If that is the case, please contact us at Admissions@nadeenschool.com to update your details.

NOTE: SMSs will be sent to local numbers only; if you do not have one, please arrange to obtain a local number as we require 2 local contact numbers for each learner and a local emergency number different from the parents' numbers (This will be used in case of emergency only -not included in SMSs)
