This week in English, the learners focused on sequencing the events of the story and gathering ideas to help them retell it confidently. They planned their own myth narratives using effective vocabulary, correct grammar, and their Writer’s Knowledge to develop clear and engaging ideas. The learners worked collaboratively to discuss key events and explored how language choices can improve their storytelling. This preparation will support them in writing their own myth narratives in the coming lessons.

This week in Maths, Year 4 learners consolidated their work on the 7, 11 and 12 times tables, solved word problems by treating them like short stories, and completed their assessments with focus and perseverance. It was great to see their confidence growing as they tackled trickier questions and explained their thinking clearly.
📢 Exciting Enrichment Opportunities
Learners can also take part in exciting external maths challenges:
Human Calculator – Sign up using this link
AMS Olympiad – Full details available here
These opportunities are a great way for learners to extend their problem-solving skills beyond the classroom.
This week in science, we conducted an experiment to explore the correlation between the distance from a sound source and the decibel level recorded. Learners enthusiastically engaged in the activity, utilising a decibel meter app to observe the pattern as the distance from the sound-emitting toy diminished.
Enquiry Learning
This week, Year 4 learners completed their Roman shield projects, decorating them in their own creative ways and taking pride in their finished designs.
They then moved on to learning about Roman mosaics, exploring where they were found and how they were carefully constructed using small pieces called tesserae. The learners investigated examples of Roman mosaics from homes and public buildings before designing their own patterns. They finished the week by creating their own mosaics using coloured card

In Year 4 this week, everyone had to get up on their feet and move around the classroom to try and find the matching word. Family members were written in either French or English and each learner had to try and find the matching word. It was a fun way to develop our reading skills.
We then played some team games to see who could be the quickest to match all the family members on the interactive whiteboard.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
