This week in English, the children have been exploring how writers share their ideas and information in engaging ways. Through group discussions and activities, they worked together to identify key features in writing and practised using commas to separate items in a list. We also focused on using apostrophes for contractions, learning how they show when letters are missing, such as in don’t or can’t. The class showed great teamwork and enthusiasm throughout!
Home learning
Spelling practice. Your child could draw, paint, sing or write them! A spelling quiz will take place every Thursday morning.

In Maths this week, the learners have been exploring adding and subtracting 10, 20, and 50 from different numbers. The children have enjoyed using base 10 equipment to make their learning hands-on and fun before moving on to more abstract challenges.
Home Learning
To support their learning, children can continue to practise adding and subtracting 10, 20, and 50 from different two-digit numbers.
For example:
What is 20 more than 36?
What is 50 less than 82?
If your child is feeling confident, challenge them with a mix of “more than” and “less than” questions to help deepen their understanding of place value.
In Science this week, the learners have been consolidating their understanding of what plants need to grow and the different parts of a plant. They have worked independently to recall last week's experiment and answer associated questions. Each class has been carefully and accurately watering the two pots of seeds (one kept in light and one kept in the dark) in their ongoing experiment, and they have started to observe the difference in growth rate.
This week in Enquiry Learning we have created a map from a popular story - 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. We know that maps should have a title, a key and symbols to represent features. We have incorporated Art into our lesson and made a collage representing the geographical features from the book. We will be moving onto comparing the weather in Bahrain with that in the UK.
