This week in English, learners focused on planning their final biography on Ernest Shackleton.
They used the writer’s knowledge they have gathered - such as vocabulary choices, grammar features, and organisational structure- to plan their writing in five clear sections.
This careful planning will support learners in producing a well-structured, informative biography for their final write.
This week in maths, learners developed their understanding of Algebra by working with one- and two-step function machines. They explored how numbers change through a sequence of operations and used this understanding to describe rules clearly and accurately.
Learners then applied this thinking to form expressions and equations, using symbols and letters to represent unknown values. Through discussion and problem-solving tasks, they explained their reasoning and justified their methods, strengthening both algebraic thinking and mathematical communication.
In science this week, learners used the data from last week’s investigation to accurately record and present their results on a graph. They carefully examined the patterns and trends shown and compared these results with their original predictions. Using clear evidence from their graphs, learners evaluated whether their predictions were correct and wrote well-thought-out conclusions and reflections to explain their reasoning. This process supported the development of key skills in data handling, analysis, and scientific thinking, while reinforcing the importance of using evidence to justify conclusions.
This week, learners confidently performed their Gilgamesh scripts to the class. They then began an art focus on myths and legends, learning how to draw a portrait of their chosen mythological or legendary character.
