This week in English, the children explored the structure and language features of a model text, using Arthur and the Golden Rope as inspiration. They examined how authors use descriptive language to create atmosphere and discussed the effect this has on the reader. The children then applied their learning by writing their own setting descriptions, using descriptive words and phrases to show what can be seen, heard, or felt in a scene. They also focused on identifying and explaining key language, grammar, and punctuation features from the model text, showing growing confidence in understanding how writers build meaning and mood. It has been lovely to see the children engaging thoughtfully with the text and taking pride in developing their descriptive writing skills.

This week, our budding mathematicians continued their journey through multiplication and division by diving into the world of 6! Learners investigated multiples of 6 using practical strategies, arrays, and number patterns, discovering how the 3-times table helps build the 6-times table. They showcased fantastic reasoning, explaining how doubling known facts makes new calculations quicker and more efficient.
This week our learners delved into the intricate world of the ear, focusing on identifying its various parts and understanding their functions. Their dedication shone through as some learners even created detailed diagrams to illustrate the science behind how the ear works.
Enquiry Learning
This week, Year 4 continued their learning about the Romans. The learners recapped the extent of the Roman Empire and explored how the Romans were able to successfully invade and control such a large area, largely due to their strong and highly organised army.
They also learned how the Romans maintained power across their empire, focusing on the importance of the army, the building of long-lasting roads, and the implementation of laws through their government.

Year 3 learned about the instruments of the orchestra with a focus on the brass family, identifying the trumpet, trombone, French horn and tuba and exploring their powerful, bright sounds before performing a fanfare on keyboards. The learners also developed their conducting skills by learning to conduct music with three beats in a bar, practising clear conducting patterns while listening to and responding to the music.
We played a great game in our sessions this week which was a big hit with Year 4 learners. It required us to move the character to the correct word or phrase on the board.
Our new topic is families and we have started to look at the gender of nouns and how, in French, there are 3 different ways to say 'my': mon, ma, mes.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
