This week, learners have been exploring Phase 3 sounds and practising reading and building words using these longer sounds.
/oo/ /OO/ /ar/ /or/
They have been using their prior phonics knowledge to support new learning, developing confidence in blending sounds and recognising patterns as they continue their early reading journey.
Learners have been enjoying a range of Maths games focused on developing their number knowledge this week. One of our favourite activities was a number scavenger hunt, where they used their subitising skills to quickly recognise quantities without counting. This helped to build confidence and fluency with numbers in a fun and active way.
We also explored the concepts of one more and one less through practical, hands-on games. Learners were encouraged to think carefully about how numbers change, supporting their understanding of number relationships.
This week, our learners have been challenged to share limited resources when playing in groups.
It has been great to see their negotiation tactics and how they work together to build in collaboration!
Our learners have been expressing their creativity this week through the medium of clay. Our learners used the air dry clay to mould into a Gingerbread creation 'inspired' by our Drawing Club focus 'The Gingerbread Man'.

We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
