Ramadan is a time of reflection, generosity and community. Through the A Box of Goodness initiative, we will be collecting non-perishable food items throughout Ramadan to support families in need. Last year, we donated 70 food boxes, with your support, let’s give even more this year.
This week we began writing our cliffhanger narrative inspired by The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Teachers modelled how to use each section of our plan and turn it into a detailed paragraph, making sure to include the writer’s knowledge we have developed throughout the unit.
Learners then wrote their own paragraphs independently. We repeated this process for all five paragraphs of the narrative, building confidence in structuring a cliffhanger and applying the writing techniques we have been practising.
This week we began our new unit on multiplication and division. We started by exploring how to multiply two-digit numbers using the grid method, helping learners build a clear understanding of place value and how multiplication works.
We then extended this learning by introducing the column method for multiplying two-digit numbers. This ensured learners developed a range of strategies and could choose the method that works best for them.
Finally, we applied the column method to multiply two-digit numbers by three-digit numbers, focusing on understanding when and why we “drop the zero” as a placeholder. Learners showed great engagement as they practised these increasingly challenging calculations.
📢 Exciting Enrichment Opportunities
Learners can also take part in exciting external maths challenges:
Human Calculator – Sign up using this link
AMS Olympiad – Full details available here
This week we learned about pulleys, levers and gears, exploring how these simple machines have a big impact in science and everyday life. We looked at real-world examples, such as cranes to demonstrate pulleys and wheelbarrows to show how levers work.
We then linked this learning back to our fairgrounds unit in Enquiry Learning, helping learners see how these forces are used in familiar contexts. To finish the unit, learners completed their end-of-unit assessment on forces.
This week, learners visited the computer suite to research simple machines, focusing on gears, levers or pulleys. They created informative posters about their chosen machine and shared their learning with the group. Using the knowledge they gained, learners then began planning their own fairground model rides. They carefully considered the equipment and materials needed, as well as how their rides could be made to move.

As part of our wonderful International Week, learners took part in a French food tasting activity.
We began by talking about what French children like to eat for breakfast and compared this to what we normally eat in the mornings.
Learners were then invited to taste croissant, baguettes, cheese (brie) and jam (Confiture Bonne Maman Fraises).
We wished one another a 'bon appétit' and practised saying what we liked and what we didn't like plus what we loved and hated.
As part of International Week, Year 5 have been exploring Africa. In their music lessons, they learned about African drumming, developing their understanding of different techniques such as tone, slap and bass. They applied these skills to create African-inspired rhythms, and also explored call and response as well as polyrhythms.

On Wednesday, Nadeen proudly hosted the 2026 Bahrain Eco-Summit as part of the growing collaboration established by the Bahrain Sustainable Schools Partnership (BSSP).
We were honoured to welcome 14 schools and over 100 learners to our campus, coming together to share ideas, collaborate and explore meaningful approaches to sustainability.
Founded in 2023, the Eco-Summit has quickly become a key event in Bahrain’s school calendar, uniting schools, sustainability partners and local organisations with a shared purpose: strengthening environmental education and empowering young people to lead positive change.
Through learner-led presentations, hands-on workshops and collaborative discussions, the Summit provided a powerful reminder that real progress happens when communities work together.
By hosting this year’s event, Nadeen reaffirms its commitment to nurturing environmentally responsible learners and supporting partnerships that help build a more sustainable future for Bahrain.
We are pleased to share the launch of The Arabic Stories Digital Library, an innovative initiative from our Arabic Department designed to strengthen our culture of reading and academic excellence.
The platform provides a carefully curated collection of Arabic stories tailored to learners’ varying interests and proficiency levels. Learners are encouraged to read at least one story per week and complete a structured reflection task to deepen comprehension, enhance written expression, and develop critical thinking skills.
The library will continue to expand through regular updates, ensuring fresh and engaging content. This initiative supports independent learning, advances language development, and reinforces cultural identity — all aligned with our strategic vision and High Performance Learning framework.
Further details will be shared by Ms. Zenab after the half-term break.
On Monday, we were delighted to host TeachMeet 5: The AI Edition, bringing educators together to explore the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education.
Led by AI Transformation Leader Luis I. Cortes, the session considered AI within both a global and regional context, while keeping a clear focus on what matters most, ensuring technology enhances learning without replacing the human relationships, judgement and care that define great education.
The event reflects our ongoing commitment to thoughtful innovation and our High Performance Learning approach, preparing learners to be adaptable, reflective and confident in a rapidly changing world.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please find here the External PAID ECA Providers at Nadeen School for Term 2.
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
