This week in English, learners have written the five paragraphs of our formal letter based on the book 'FArTHER' by Grahame Baker-Smith, using the written plans we created in last week’s lessons. We then assessed our work using the sentence checker and our Writer’s Knowledge to ensure that all the key features of a formal letter were included.
This week in maths, learners focused on understanding multiples and factors, exploring the key terminology and working through a range of examples. They then developed this further by identifying common factors and common multiples in different number sets. Learners then created a poster that included a clear definition and visual examples of either factors or multiples. They produced some fantastic, creative work that demonstrated their growing confidence in maths.
This week in science, learners designed a scientific investigation to discover which material is the most absorbent. They created a hypothesis, wrote an equipment list and planned a clear method to follow. Before carrying out the experiment, they also prepared a results table to record their findings accurately. After completing the investigation, learners reflected on their results and compared them with their original hypotheses, showing thoughtful scientific thinking and great curiosity.
This week in enquiry learning, learners explored a range of Viking and Ancient Greek artwork, using both primary and secondary sources to deepen their understanding. They then applied the art skills they developed in Term 1.1 to draw either a Viking or Ancient Greek piece of art. Learners then used clay to create their own pottery inspired by Ancient Greek designs.

This week, our learners have explored the topic “Jobs” in Arabic. They learned the names of simple jobs, such as teacher, doctor, policeman, and seller, and practised using simple sentences to describe them, such as “هو طبيب” and “هي معلمة”.
Next week, our learners will be presenting their end-of-term projects in class.
They will be assessed based on their oral presentation and their ability to clearly and confidently explain what they have learned this term.
Please note: a new task has been added to the Bravo Bravo platform: Identify words that refer to jobs.
Year 5 Learners have been doing some roleplays that have combined introducing themselves and then saying how they were feeling and what was hurting them. It was really great to have to see each pair perform in front of the class.
Next week will be our last session of the unit with a Christmas-based lesson in the final week of term.
A group of enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 musicians enjoyed an inspiring trip to the Bahrain National Theatre, where they attended an educational concert performed by the Bahrain National Orchestra. During the visit, the learners learnt about the different sections of the orchestra and how each family of instruments contributes to the overall sound. They were captivated by a programme that featured traditional Arabic music alongside well-known pieces from the stage and screen, giving them a rich and varied musical experience. The trip left the young musicians buzzing with excitement and a deeper appreciation for orchestral music.

Christmas with a Pawfect Purpose.
In the spirit of Nadeen’s core values of love, care, and community, we are excited to introduce “Christmas with a Pawfect Purpose.” This special initiative gives our community an opportunity to spread kindness during the festive season by supporting our animal friends in need.
In collaboration with Bahrain Rescues we will be setting up a Christmas tree in the learner entrance decorated with wish-list tags. Each tag will include an item or small contribution that families may choose to provide. Children are welcome to pick a tag from the tree and bring in the corresponding item.
Our Wishlist (all items valued at 5 BD or less):
A bag of cat litter
A bag of cat or dog food
A cosy winter blanket for the dogs
Cleaning supplies
Apples or carrots for Bahrain Rescues’ resident donkey, Dolly
Thank you for helping us make this festive season extra meaningful through small acts of compassion that make a big difference. Your support truly embodies the kindness at the heart of our school community.
Winter Shoebox Appeal
Nadeen School is once again supporting the Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) Winter Shoebox Appeal. This annual initiative takes place in November, as we approach the winter season, and aims to collect essential items for vulnerable members of our community.
We invite your child to participate by helping to pack a decorated shoebox or backpack with much-needed items. The children will box these up at home and bring them into school.
Please see the attached flyer for general information. We are asking for donations of toiletries (such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo) and dry foods, including lentils, rice, dried milk powder, and spices.
We will be collecting donations from next week in the Learner entrance and our contributions will be handed over to the MWPS later on.
Every donation makes a difference, and your support for this important cause is deeply appreciated.

We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
