This week we have started our topic of Addition and Subtraction. The learners have been applying their Number Bonds knowledge to find addition sums and we have started to look at Fact Families.
Home learning
All learners should be able to quickly recall Number Bonds to 10.
If your child is confident with Number Bonds to 10, they should practice Number Bonds to 20.
They could use the pattern-finding technique with their knowledge of Bonds to 10:
1+ 9=10 2 + 8 =10
1+19=20 2 + 18=20
This week in Science, we have been learning all about how exercise and food help to keep our bodies strong and healthy. The children discussed different types of exercise and how moving our bodies helps our hearts, muscles, and minds. They explored the importance of eating a balanced diet and sorted foods into the different food groups. Learners also investigated which exercises raise our heart rate and reflected on how the choices we make each day help us to stay active, happy, and strong.
This week in Enquiry Learning, Year 2 have been exploring toys through the eyes of artists. The children have been learning about different artistic techniques by experimenting with paint and observing how light and dark are used in artwork. They applied these skills to create thoughtful drawings of toys from the past and present, carefully considering shape, detail, and shading.

We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
