This week in English, learners have been diving deeper into Leaf by Sandra Dieckmann. They explored the example text linked to our unit on polar bears, identifying powerful vocabulary. In Grammar, they have been learning how apostrophes show possession. Learners also began using technical vocabulary in their own sentences to sound like true information report writers!
Spellings
We are looking at the possessive apostrophe for plural nouns rule for spelling this week. Please help the learners practise these at home.

This week, the learners have been progressing with their addition skills, focusing on performing multiple exchanges. They have been tackling addition problems and have acquired new vocabulary related to addition concepts.
This week in Science, Year 4 continued their exploration of States of Matter with a focus on volume and shape. The children investigated how solids, liquids, and gases differ — discovering that solids have both a fixed shape and volume, liquids have a fixed volume but take the shape of their container, while gases have neither a fixed shape nor volume.
They also worked together to define and understand key scientific vocabulary, including melting, freezing, evaporation, boiling, and condensing. Through discussion and hands-on examples, the learners explained how materials can change from one state to another.
Enquiry Learning
This week, in the second week of our Stone Age topic, the learners explored how early humans expressed themselves through art. They created their own Stone Age-style paintings by dipping paper in coffee to give it the appearance of ancient rock art. The class enjoyed designing pictures of animals and scenes from early human life, experimenting with colours and shapes to make their artwork look authentic. Everyone was fascinated to see how people communicated and decorated their surroundings thousands of years ago, and they are looking forward to continuing their learning in the coming weeks.

Well done to our Year 4 Wolves of the Week.
Year 4 learners did super work completing a timetable of school subjects. The focus of the lesson was on writing their French accurately and they did a really great job.
Next week, our focus will be on say which school subjects we like and which we don't.
