This week in English, we continued exploring our story The Night Gardener, through our Immerse lessons. The children discussed how the author uses language to create mood and emotion, identifying words and phrases that describe feelings and atmosphere. We also enjoyed some drama activities, using hot-seating to imagine we were characters in the story and explore their thoughts and feelings. The class showed wonderful imagination and are using rich, descriptive vocabulary to bring the story to life.
Home learning

In Maths this week, we have been exploring subtraction through 10 and finding 10 more and 10 less than a number. Learners have been using practical resources, such as Base 10 and number lines, to help them see how the tens and ones change when we add or subtract tens.
Home Learning
To support their learning, learners can continue to practise finding 10 more and 10 less than different two-digit numbers.
For example:
What is 10 more than 47?
What is 10 less than 83?
If your child is confident with this, encourage them to explore 20 more and 20 less to deepen their understanding of place value.
In Science this week, the learners have been investigating different seeds and what plants need to grow. They have been working scientifically to investigate the growth of seeds.
They planted 5 seeds in two pots (controlled variable).
One pot will be kept in light and one in the dark (independent variable).
Both pots will be given the same amount of water at the same time (controlled variable).
Everyone made a prediction about which pots of seeds would grow the best and why. In a few weeks, they will measure the growth of the seeds in each pot (dependent variable) and form a conclusion based on their findings.
Home Learning
Ask your child to explain the experiment and the new scientific vocabulary to you.
This week in Enquiry Learning, we have been looking closely at the school's playground and building features. We have drawn sketches of our building and noted physical and human features. We have also started to learn about cardinal directions - North, South, East and West and use those words to describe the direction of one place to another.
To support our learning on places around the world. Please could you support your child to do a 'Scavenger Hunt' by looking for things around the home that have been labelled as being from another country.

Dear Parents,
The Ministry of Health and Education of Bahrain, requires that all learners joining Grade 1 which is Year 2 must have a compulsory medical health check examination completed and signed by a doctor in Bahrain in order for an early detection for any chronic disease.
Please attach a letter sent by the Health Care Centers.
I would be grateful if the examination form could be sent to me no later than 15th of January 2026 to nurse@nadeenschool.com, including your child’s name and class with a copy of the latest updated vaccination record. Please see more information here.
I appreciate your cooperation with this mandatory health record.
The Head Boy and Girl will be representing Nadeen School at the British embassy on Sunday 9th November to commemorate Remembrance Day. Poppies will be on sale in the school reception from Sunday should parents wish to purchase.
We'played some games based on the days of the week including who could be the fastest to find each one.
We used our song on days to help put them in the correct order then we carefully copied each one.
In our next session, we will play some new games to help consolidate what we have learnt so far.
