A gentle reminder we are collecting non-perishable food items throughout Ramadan to support families in need. Items can be dropped off at the Learner Entrance. Thank you for your generosity.
This week in English, Year 3 learners were introduced to our new class text, The Rhythm of the Rain by Grahame Baker-Smith. Before reading, they made predictions about the story, explored key vocabulary and used drama to immerse themselves in the setting.
Next week, the children will begin analysing the features and structure of the example text in preparation for writing their own narrative setting.
Ask your child: What did they think the story would be about before reading it? Has their idea changed?
Spellings: Homophones
great
grate
grown
groan
plain

This week in Maths, we have been learning about measuring and calculating perimeter. We explored how to find the total distance around different shapes by adding the lengths of their sides. We practised measuring sides accurately using a ruler and used this information to calculate the perimeter of both regular and irregular shapes.
Next week we will start learning about fractions, focusing on learners understanding of numerators and denominators.
Ask your child: How do you calculate perimeter?
This week in Science, Year 3 continued exploring light and the effects sunlight has on our bodies. We discussed how the sun can be helpful, but also harmful if we are not careful. The children learnt about different ways to protect themselves when spending time outdoors.
Please ask your child: How can we protect ourselves from the sun?
They should be able to tell you about wearing a hat, using sunscreen, wearing sunglasses, seeking shade, and drinking plenty of water.
This week we began our new Enquiry Learning unit: What can Dynasties Teach Us? The children explored creative activities including making lanterns, writing in Mandarin, creating collages, and making red envelopes.
Next week, they will continue these activities so everyone can fully immerse themselves in this exciting topic.
Ask your child: How do you say Happy New Year in Mandarin?
We are delighted to share our Home Learning Choice Board for this half term. This is an optional activity board for your child to complete. There are nine practical and engaging activities to choose from, please select up to three.
You can share your child’s completed activities with your class teacher, they will provide brief feedback to your child in class time.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to your class teacher or Year Leader.
At Nadeen, we value strong partnerships with our families and your feedback plays an important role in our continuous improvement journey.
Our Parent Happiness & Feedback Survey has been designed to help us better understand your child’s experience across wellbeing, learning, communication and community.

We began our lesson with a song to review asking one another how we are and looked at a range of answers.
We then began our new topic for this half term which is all to do with asking how much things cost.
Year 3 learners are looking forward to practising their numbers all the way to 100 over our next few sessions.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor.
