This week in English, learners developed their biography writing by composing structured biography paragraphs and refining their use of cohesive devices and purposeful vocabulary.
They then began planning their final biography through role play, using drama to explore key events and viewpoints from Ernest Shackleton’s life. This helped learners deepen their understanding and generate ideas to support clear, engaging biographical writing.
This week in Maths, learners consolidated their understanding of ratio and proportion by solving a variety of problems in real-life and mathematical contexts. They used ratio tables, bar models, and proportional reasoning to find missing values and compare quantities accurately.
Through discussion and problem-solving tasks, learners explained their strategies and justified their thinking, strengthening both reasoning and mathematical communication. Next week, learners will begin a new unit on Algebra, where they will explore using symbols and letters to represent unknowns and relationships.
This week in Science, learners continued their exploration of light by designing and conducting their own investigations to examine how the distance between a light source and an object affects the size of the shadow it casts. They carefully planned their methods, controlled variables, and recorded their observations and measurements systematically. These recorded results will form the basis for next week’s activity, where learners will graph their data and analyse the patterns to draw scientific conclusions about the relationship between light distance and shadow size. This process is helping them develop essential skills in scientific enquiry, data collection, and analytical thinking.
This week, learners have explored the Bahraini myth Gilgamesh. They have summarised the key events of the myth and created a comic strip to represent it visually. Working in groups, learners then developed a script to recreate the story. Next week, they will perform their scripts to the class.
