This week in English, learners analysed an example documentary narrative, identifying key features of the writer's knowledge, such as expanded noun phrases, colons, semicolons, and dashes, and discussing how these features impact the reader. They also practised sentence accuracy by using hyphens and dashes to make meaning clearer.
Ask your child:
• What is an expanded noun phrase, and how does it improve writing?
• When would you use a semi-colon or a dash in a sentence?
Next week, learners will continue analysing the example text before planning their own documentary narrative about wolves, choosing powerful vocabulary and organising their ideas using words, phrases, and illustrations, ready for their final piece of writing.
This week in maths, learners strengthened their understanding of decimals by practising addition and subtraction, as well as multiplying and dividing decimals by powers of 10, 100, and 1,000. They also worked on multiplying and dividing decimals by integers, focusing on accuracy and understanding how place value affects the size of numbers during calculations.
Next week, we will build on this learning by reconnecting with prior knowledge of fractions and exploring the relationships between fractions, decimals, and percentages. Learners will develop their understanding of how these forms represent the same values in different ways and how they can be converted between one another.
Ask your child:
What does it mean if something is on a 25%, 50%, or 75% sale?
If a cake is divided into 10 pieces and you have three-quarters of the cake, how many pieces would that be?
How could you express three-quarters as a decimal or a percentage?
This week in science, learners continued exploring our new unit on the circulatory system. We investigated how the circulatory system works to transport important substances around the body. Learners identified the key parts of the system, including the heart and blood vessels, and discussed how these work together to move blood throughout the body.
We also focused on blood itself, learning about its different components such as plasma, red blood cells and white blood cells. Learners explored the important roles these parts play, including transporting oxygen and nutrients and helping the body fight infection.
Ask your child:
What are the main parts of the circulatory system and how do they work together?
What are the different components of blood and what does each one do?
Next week, learners will begin to explore the structure of the heart in more detail and investigate how blood moves through it. They will also learn about the difference between oxygenated and deoxygenated blood and how the lungs play an important role in this process.
This week in Enquiry Learning, learners designed and labelled their own cushion covers. They decided which stitching technique they will use, the colours they prefer, the type of fabric, and the design they would like to add to their cushion cover.
Ask your child to show you their design and explain what they are planning to create. It has been wonderful to see their creativity and ideas!
Next week, learners will begin practising different sewing techniques. Please check your emails to see which resources will be required.
We are grateful for the strong partnership we share with our parents. During periods of online learning, your support at home plays a role in helping your child continue to succeed.
Maintaining a simple daily routine and encouraging your child's efforts during lessons can make a big difference. Where possible, setting up a consistent learning space for your child to join each lesson can also help them stay engaged and ready to learn. Being prepared with essential resources; paper, pencil/pens and ensuring your child has a charged device sets them with readiness for every lesson. Scheduling the release of planning the night before which is a part of our flexible approach and gives you time to prepare any additional resources that might be needed the next day.
During online lessons, we aim to empower children to become confident and independent learners. While they are on their calls, we encourage students to take responsibility for their learning and engage actively in the lesson. Please remind your child that their teachers are there to support them just as they would in the classroom. They should feel confident raising their hand, unmuting their microphone, or using the chat to ask for help after the input session if they need clarification or support.
Brain breaks are equally important, a short physical activity between online lessons can help children refresh and refocus. Ensure that children step away from screens during their 30 minute morning break and their 30 minute lunch breaks to refresh and stretch their legs.
Most importantly, celebrate your child’s effort and progress. Your encouragement helps build their confidence and motivation to learn. Together, we will continue to support your children and ensure they have the tools to succeed during this period of online learning.
At Nadeen, we value strong partnerships with our families and your feedback plays an important role in our continuous improvement journey.
Our Parent Happiness & Feedback Survey has been designed to help us better understand your child’s experience across wellbeing, learning, communication and community.

We are pleased to share the launch of The Arabic Stories Digital Library, an innovative initiative from our Arabic Department designed to strengthen our culture of reading and academic excellence.
The platform provides a carefully curated collection of Arabic stories tailored to learners’ varying interests and proficiency levels. Learners are encouraged to read at least one story per week and complete a structured reflection task to deepen comprehension, enhance written expression, and develop critical thinking skills.
The library will continue to expand through regular updates, ensuring fresh and engaging content. This initiative supports independent learning, advances language development, and reinforces cultural identity — all aligned with our strategic vision and High Performance Learning framework.
Further details will be shared by Ms. Zenab after the half-term break.
Please find here the External PAID ECA Providers at Nadeen School for Term 2.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
