This week English, learners completed their final formal letter based on the book FArTHER. Learners used their detailed plans, drawing on all of the writer’s knowledge covered throughout the unit. They also incorporated the edits they and their peers made to their drafts using their purple pens to produce their final piece of writing.
This week in maths, learners began by exploring prime numbers and linking this learning to last week’s work on fractions. Learners then moved on to squared numbers and used cubes to investigate how a square number must form a complete square for example, arranging cubes in a 3 × 3 layout to show that 9 is a squared number. We continued using the cubes to construct different 3D models, helping learners understand cubed numbers. For instance, building a 3 × 3 × 3 cube demonstrated that 27 is a cubed number.
This week in Science, we explored what makes a scientific investigation a fair test, focusing on the importance of controlling variables. Learners discussed independent and dependent variables and how each one influences an experiment. They were then given a range of scenarios and challenged to identify the different variables within each situation
This week in Enquiry Learning, learners worked in groups and chose to focus on either the Vikings or Ancient Greece. They visited the ICT lab to further develop their knowledge of their chosen civilisation, using online research to deepen their understanding. Each group then created a Google Slide to showcase their findings, which will be added to our display board.

This week, learners presented their end-of-term projects in class. They were assessed on their oral presentation skills and their ability to clearly and confidently explain what they have learned this term.
Next week, learners will begin a new unit on Simple Feelings, such as happy/sad and hungry/thirsty. They will explore a range of new vocabulary, including happy, sad, angry, hungry, thirsty, and friend, and will practise using these words in simple sentences such as “I am happy.
Please note: a new reading task has been added to the Bravo Bravo platform: book name المشاعر (the fillings)
Year 5 Learners had their first experience of partner dictation in this week's lessons.
The activity consists of learners working in pairs with one being the runner and the other being the writer. The runner moves around the classroom and reads sentences, memorising as much of them as they can then reciting them to their writer partner.
Halfway through, everyone swaps round so that they experience both roles.
Points were awarded for accuracy including the correct placement of apostrophes and accents.
A group of enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 musicians enjoyed an inspiring trip to the Bahrain National Theatre, where they attended an educational concert performed by the Bahrain National Orchestra. During the visit, the learners learnt about the different sections of the orchestra and how each family of instruments contributes to the overall sound. They were captivated by a programme that featured traditional Arabic music alongside well-known pieces from the stage and screen, giving them a rich and varied musical experience. The trip left the young musicians buzzing with excitement and a deeper appreciation for orchestral music.

Christmas with a Pawfect Purpose.
In the spirit of Nadeen’s core values of love, care, and community, we are excited to introduce “Christmas with a Pawfect Purpose.” This special initiative gives our community an opportunity to spread kindness during the festive season by supporting our animal friends in need.
In collaboration with Bahrain Rescues we will be setting up a Christmas tree in the learner entrance decorated with wish-list tags. Each tag will include an item or small contribution that families may choose to provide. Children are welcome to pick a tag from the tree and bring in the corresponding item.
Our Wishlist (all items valued at 5 BD or less):
A bag of cat litter
A bag of cat or dog food
A cosy winter blanket for the dogs
Cleaning supplies
Apples or carrots for Bahrain Rescues’ resident donkey, Dolly
Thank you for helping us make this festive season extra meaningful through small acts of compassion that make a big difference. Your support truly embodies the kindness at the heart of our school community.
Winter Shoebox Appeal
Nadeen School is once again supporting the Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) Winter Shoebox Appeal. This annual initiative takes place in November, as we approach the winter season, and aims to collect essential items for vulnerable members of our community.
We invite your child to participate by helping to pack a decorated shoebox or backpack with much-needed items. The children will box these up at home and bring them into school.
Please see the attached flyer for general information. We are asking for donations of toiletries (such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo) and dry foods, including lentils, rice, dried milk powder, and spices.
We will be collecting donations from next week in the Learner entrance and our contributions will be handed over to the MWPS later on.
Every donation makes a difference, and your support for this important cause is deeply appreciated.

We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
