Up and Coming Dates:
Saturday, 17th of January - Beach Clean Up
Thursday, 22nd of January - Nadeen School Birthday
This week we have spent time practising acting out the instructions of making a habitat. This overlaps well with our current learning in Science where we are learning about different types of habitats. We have also been identifying the different features of instructional text.
Home Learning
Please ask your child to tell you about the different habitats taught and ask them to tell you the things they would need to create a habitat
Spellings:
sold
cold
subtract
four

In maths this week, we have continued to identify money and find ways to make the same amount. We set up mini shops for learners to collaborate and find the total cost of different items using various addition strategies and recalling their place value knowledge. We investigated 'giving change' and linked this to our subtraction knowledge.
Home Learning
Our new KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts) for this half term are the 2, 5 and 10 Times Tables. Your child should practise this on a regular basis at home.
2 Times Tables song
5 Times Tables song
10 Times Tables song
Play Hit the button (TTs 2, 5, 10)
to support speedy and accurate recall.
In Science this week, we continued our topic on Habitats by exploring a wider range of habitats. The children built on their understanding by learning about different habitats and identifying the plants and animals that live in each one. They used pictures, discussion and prior knowledge to match living things to the correct habitats and talked about how animals and plants are suited to their surroundings.
This week in Enquiry Learning, we have been learning about Scratch, a child-friendly coding program used to introduce children to the basics of computer programming. Scratch allows children to create their own characters (called sprites) and give them instructions using simple drag-and-drop commands.
The children had great fun designing their own sprites and using commands to make their characters move. Through this, they learned how to sequence instructions and began to understand that an algorithm is a set of step-by-step commands. It was wonderful to see their creativity, enthusiasm, and confidence grow in the IT room.
We are delighted to share our Home Learning Choice Board for this half term. This is an optional activity board for your child to complete. There are nine practical and engaging activities to choose from, please select up to three.
You can share your child’s completed activities with your class teacher, they will provide brief feedback to your child in class time.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to your class teacher or Year Leader.

Dear Parents,
As part of our regular health and safety procedures and our ongoing commitment to maintaining accurate records, we will be sending a test SMS to all parents this Monday, 19th January.
This is a routine check to ensure our contact information is up to date and that we can reach all families promptly in the event of an emergency or important communication.
No action is required unless you do not receive the SMS. If that is the case, please contact us at Admissions@nadeenschool.com to update your details.
NOTE: SMSs will be sent to local numbers only; if you do not have one, please arrange to obtain a local number as we require 2 local contact numbers for each learner and a local emergency number different from the parents' numbers (This will be used in case of emergency only -not included in SMSs)
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us make this a happy and memorable experience for all our learners.
A great start to our new topic with the introduction of some animal names through the wonderful story 'Dear Zoo'.
We practiced the new vocabulary by whispering it and shouting, saying it quickly and slowly.
We came up with an action for each animal to help us remember it then played a fun game acting each one out.
Year 2 learners explored how music can tell a story by reading a graphic score that depicts the journey of a train. They learned to follow symbols representing different sounds, such as chugging wheels, whistles and fast-moving sections. Working together, they used their voices to perform each part in sequence, building confidence as they matched the shapes on the score to the changing moods of the train’s journey.
