This week in English, learners completed paragraphs four and five of their exploration narratives. They self-assessed, and peer-assessed each other’s work, focusing on the writers knowledge we have developed throughout this unit.
After reviewing and improving our drafts, we created a final published version of our narratives — our first fully completed written piece. Finally, we used the computer room to type up our exploration narratives, which will be printed and displayed in the library for others to enjoy.
This week in maths, learners focused on column addition and subtraction with 4-digit numbers. They then applied these skills to solve word problems using the RUCSAC strategy (Read, Understand, Choose, Solve, Answer, and Check). This approach helped learners develop their confidence in answering addition and subtraction problems, with a particular focus on checking their answers using the inverse operation.
This week in science, learners explored the different phases of the Moon and learned why these changes occur. Learners used Oreos to model the various lunar phases, applying the correct scientific vocabulary to describe each stage. We also investigated how time zones work around the world and practised calculating the local times of different countries using GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).
This week in Enquiry Learning, we analysed the artwork of Frida Kahlo and Yayoi Kusama, exploring how stories and emotions can be expressed through art. Learners then created their own pieces inspired by one of these artists, incorporating an item that represents something personal about themselves. We used the seven elements of art — line, shape, form, space, colour, value, and texture — to support and enhance our artwork.

Next week, learners will learn about basic colours and shapes through fun and interactive classroom activities in both Arabic and English.
In Year 5, learners have been drawing round one another and then using bilingual dictionaries to find out how to say a range of body parts in French. There was plenty of great collaborative work and confidence in using the dictionaries really grew throughout the session.

We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
In case of any questions, please contact directly support@paywithspare.com
