This week, learners have been immersed in the myth of Arthur and the Golden Rope. They enjoyed exploring the characters, events, and magical elements of the story, and made thoughtful predictions about what might happen next. After planning and drafting their own myth-inspired stories, they carefully edited and improved their work to include interesting vocabulary, descriptive detail, and engaging plot twists. It has been wonderful to see how much creativity and effort they have shown, and how confidently they are using narrative techniques to bring their stories to life. Their drafts reflect thoughtful ideas, growing independence, and real pride in their writing, setting them up to produce polished and imaginative final narratives.

We have started our Term 2 with the new unit - Multiplication and Division. During the first week, the learners explored what happens when numbers are multiplied by 1 or 0 and divided by 1 or itself. They also started investigating multiples of 3 using practical strategies and reasoning. Learners showed growing confidence as they explained their thinking and made links between multiplication and division.
This week, the learners started a new unit on sound. We have focused on understanding how sounds are created and experienced in our everyday lives.
The children have been discovering that sound is produced through vibrations. To bring this concept to life, we engaged them in hands-on activities using a variety of musical instruments. These instruments provided a great opportunity for the children to see and feel the vibrations that generate sound waves.
Enquiry Learning
This week, in Enquiry Learning, Year 4 explored the Ancient Romans. They investigated who the Romans were, how large their empire became, why they invaded other countries and why the Roman army was so successful.
We began the week by discussing what we already knew and what we wanted to find out about the Romans. We then created maps, showing the growth of the empire and also designed posters explaining the various reasons for invasions.

Year 4 learners have made super progress since we began our weekly French sessions at the start of the school year.
Trying to pronounce new words correctly in a foreign language can be quite daunting so it's been wonderful to see how their confidence has grown and how even the shyer members of classes are keener to have a go.
After the break, I will look forward to sharing more songs and games to build on what we have already learnt and to introduce lots of exciting new vocabulary.
