This week, learners have been exploring Phase 3 sounds and practising reading and building words and sentences using these longer sounds.
/ur/ /ow/ /oi/ /ear/
They have been using their prior phonics knowledge to support new learning, developing confidence in blending sounds and recognising patterns as they continue their early reading journey.
This week the learners have been enjoying a range of Maths games and investigations focused on developing their knowledge and understanding of weight and capacity.
We made boats and explored how much they could hold before they sank. We explored how to make different objects balance on a scale and gain understanding of using scales to measure how heavy an object is
This week, the children enjoyed creating their own portraits using wooden logs and a range of loose parts.
They carefully looked at themselves in mirrors and talked about their facial features, choosing materials such as rocks for eyes, wooden counters for mouths, and shells or leaves for noses.
This activity encouraged creativity, observation skills and early self-awareness, while supporting fine motor development and expressive language.
The sand area in our shared space has been very busy and lots of fun. The children have loved digging, pouring and building together, using their imaginations as they play.
They are also learning to share, take turns and talk with their friends while they explore the sand.

We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
