We finally made it happen! (And I must add that the weather was much better than the original date...) Our day was punctuated with lots of walking and eating! We started at the Idaho Capitol and walked down to Capitol Contemporary Art Gallery. Then, we were lead to Idaho's tallest building, 8th and Main. It was at this point that we found ourselves with a bit of spare time, so the student proposed and flawlessly executed a quick jaunt to Dutch Bros before heading over to City hall for presentations on the sagebrush steppe ecosystem and the City of Boise's Climate Action initiatives.
Next up was lunch at CupBop followed by a snack (are 6th graders actually just hobbits??) and a quick presentation at the Basque Market where they tried Basque cheeses, tapenade, cured meat, quince jelly, fancy canned tuna, rice pudding, and likely a couple other items I am forgetting!
This left us just enough time to swing by Freak Alley for a group photo and head back to the Capitol Building for our bus to pick us up.
Thank you so much for sharing these awesome young people with me for the past 2 years! I will miss them, and I can't wait to hear about all the amazing things they do next year in middle school and beyond! 💕
You can access photos from their entire 6th grade GATE experience here.
And just for fun, here are the photos from their 5th grade GATE year!
The students aren't sent the links to these posts, so they may enjoy having this one forwarded to them!
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras (~$100 ea) and Rubiks Cubes ($12)! Please click on the link below to donate to my Boise Foundation Account. [LOWELL/GATE/GABRIELLI,AUDREY]
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY DONATED!
IT WILL BE PUT TO GOOD USE RIGHT AWAY!
(I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
