This week, the third graders learned a new art style, tessellations! They learned what a tessellation is (a repeating pattern of shapes that fit together with no spaces between them), saw some examples of work by M.C. Escher, and tried their hand at creating their own tessellating shapes. Each student was required to attempt at least two tessellation pieces, with the second being more challenging than the first. They then completed a reflection in their Book Creator portfolios. A handful of students did not thoroughly complete their reflections and will need to finish those this week at home or next week during Choice Time. All students were given at least 20 minutes to complete their reflections in class.
We're all set on building materials and snacks for the time being! Thank you so much for all of the generous donations!
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras (~$100 ea) and Rubiks Cubes ($12)! Please click on the link below to donate to my Boise Foundation Account. [LOWELL/GATE/GABRIELLI,AUDREY]
