Today was an ultra hard-skill heavy day with lots of opportunities to troubleshoot and learn transferable computer skills for the future. The first half of the day was spent on file management techniques, and the second half of the day was spent exploring video editing. Here are the skills the students practiced today, and most were introduced to for the first time!
Creating organized folders in Google Drive
Uploading hard drive files to Google Drive
Taking videos on the camera app (not new for most)
Various time-saving file selection techniques for dragging and dropping
Searching for large-format photos only through Google Images
Downloading and uploading Google Images to Google Drive
Converting Youtube files to MP3 audio files
Adding video, image, audio, and text layers to a video
Splitting and cutting video layers
Adding special effects (SFX) to a video
We are using the free version of ClipChamp to create drone video projects. Students can access their account from home or school. Please let me know if you would prefer for your student to work as a support partner on ClipChamp rather than having their own account to access.
15+ 1+ shoe boxes (the ones that have the lid attached like a chest are best, but either work!)
30+ 18+ cardboard paper towel rolls
10+ 2+ cereal boxes
big bags of pretzels (for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade snacks)
big boxes of chewy granola bars (for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade snacks)
Thank you so much for the donations we have already received!! For reference, once class typically eats half a bag of pretzels per GATE day. The more students bring their own snack to class, the less need to be provided through donation. Thanks!
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras (~$100 ea) and Rubiks Cubes ($12)! Please click on the link below to donate to my Boise Foundation Account. [LOWELL/GATE/GABRIELLI,AUDREY]
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY DONATED!
IT WILL BE PUT TO GOOD USE RIGHT AWAY!
(I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
