Both last week and this week, the 2nd and 3rd graders continued work on their Wonders of the World Agamograph art pieces. They are really putting their full effort and attention into these cool multidimensional art pieces!
They have also started a unit exploring the questions of "Are spiders artists?" and "Are spiderwebs art?" This has lead them comparing abstract art and spiderwebs with a Double Bubble Map, reading a book about the forms and purposes of spiders' webs, and researching four abstract artists and their styles. This week, students were introduced to Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Kline, Jackson Pollock, and Piet Mondrian. Throughout this unit, we will work on the Claim, Evidence, Reasoning format for making an argument. This is used in the regular class setting at every grade level until graduation.
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras, a Tello drone kit, Rubiks Cubes, graphic novels, and more enriching art and tech! (I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
