Today the 1st graders tried their hand at the occupation of architect! The read Iggy Peck, Architect and created a circle map about what an architect does. The learned that an architect is in charge of drawing and modeling designs for buildings, bridges, monuments, and even some parks and playgrounds!
We then watched a video about a dad who started designing accessible playgrounds for kids like his daughter who used a walker and sometimes a wheelchair. The 1st graders put their imagination to the test and worked together to design an accessible playground with Lego bricks called "Lego Universe: Park for Everyone." This project helped the students to think about how everyone deserves to have a fun place to play, and kids of all sizes and abilities can have fun in the same place!
UPCOMING: There will be no GATE the week of November 29-December 3.
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras, a Tello drone kit, Rubiks Cubes, graphic novels, and more enriching art and tech!
