1st graders continued their work on innovation and invention this week. They were able to complete their inventions started last week (or try their hand a a new one,) and practice public speaking while presenting the problem they wanted to help and the invention they developed to address it. Students then tried their hand at some acting! They analyzed and imagined what it was like before the existence of a famous invention and how it could have been invented. Then they performed a short scene for their classmates about the invention. We will continue to practice presentations and acting skills throughout the 1st grade year. It will be awesome to see their confidence grow and shine!
Some of today's photos were taken by one of the 1st graders who finished their invention early. Great job!
Our GATE classroom has nine Chromebooks available to share, and there is currently one Lowell students in 1st grade GATE. That leaves us 2 devices short this first Quarter. Any students that are willing and able to bring a personal or school-issued device to GATE would be appreciated. If carrying a device on the bus/etc is not a good fit for your child's needs, they are more than welcome to use a class Chromebook on GATE days.
This water bottle and jacket were left in the GATE classroom and will be available for the owners to grab next Friday.
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras, a Tello drone kit, Rubiks Cubes, graphic novels, and more enriching art and tech! (I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
