The 4th graders worked hard on their bridge designs for most of the day today! We started with some students working on memorizing their poems and other students who have already memorized their poems tackling some brain teasers. After that, the bridge groups met to finalize their designs and polish their blueprints. The most challenging part of the project so far has been calculating how many popsicle sticks their bridge design will require in order to set their budget. This took a lot of math and deliberation, but by the end, the students were really able to visualized the task at hand and get to work!
Next week, the groups will continue to build their bridges. We hope to test the bridges the following week on March 9th.
Next Wednesday is "PAWsitively Wild About Reading" Day at Lowell! Students are encouraged to wear animal print or clothing with an animal on it. GATE students are always welcome to participate in Lowell spirit days.
Thank you so much to everyone that has donated to the Lowell GATE Classroom Fund this year! Your donations have purchased 2 drone kits, tons of art and engineering supplies, and 5 huge Lego sets! I have my eye on some Rubik's cubes, a full-sized microscope, and math/strategy challenges. Please click on the link below to donate to my Boise Foundation Account.Â
(I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
