Today the 2nd graders learned all about the moon! They worked with teams to create an Earth/Moon double bubble map to compare and contrast the two celestial objects. Photos of these maps can be found on their Book Creator portfolios. We also read the book Moon! Earth's Best Friend, which was chock-full of moon facts and science. It even helped us to calculate how much we would weigh on the moon's surface! Most students in the class would only weight between 13-15 pounds.
We finished the day by working on teams to perform international moon myth skits from Peru, Mexico, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Australia, Polynesia, and China.
The last class will be May 12th.
Adults who would be willing to video chat or stop by the 1st grade class and share about their career, especially if it is a STEM career! If you are willing to hold a Q and A with the students, I can design classwork to accompany your job. Or, if you would like to teach the students something, that's great too! Last year, we had fun learning about architecture, wildlife biology, computer coding, and several other careers. I can't wait to see what we can put together for the students this year!
