Today the 4th graders finished painting and decorating their archetypal character masks. My apologies that some of them (specifically the villain archetypes) are truly terrifying. If you need to make the mask mysteriously disappear in the next couple days, you have my full support. haha
The students did a great job being flexible when things didn't turn out as they originally planned, and a few students took leadership roles to make sure that the classroom was clean and reset after all of the messy artwork. This makes doing big, messy projects way more likely to keep happening, so way to go, 4th graders!
After clean-up, we refreshed the main stages on the hero's journey and introduced narrative conventions: plot, character, point of view, setting, theme, conflict, and style. The class then wrote a collaborative story about Bob the Potato's hero's journey to finish the day. Next week, we will practice more storycraft before starting work on our huge hero's journey crankie project!
30+ 16+ cardboard paper towel rolls
10+ 2+ cereal boxes
big bags of pretzels (for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade snacks)
big boxes of chewy granola bars (for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade snacks)
Thank you so much for the donations we have already received!! For reference, once class typically eats half a bag of pretzels per GATE day. The more students bring their own snack to class, the less need to be provided through donation. Thanks!
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras (~$100 ea) and Rubiks Cubes ($12)! Please click on the link below to donate to my Boise Foundation Account. [LOWELL/GATE/GABRIELLI,AUDREY]
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY DONATED!
IT WILL BE PUT TO GOOD USE RIGHT AWAY!
(I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
