This week, 4th graders continued their study of ethics. We read the story "That's Not Fair" about the Depression-era workers rights leader, Emma Tenayuca. We then broke down the terms, ethics, morality, values, and dilemma. We finished the day with some dramatic skits where students portrayed and ethical dilemma and its outcome and then analyzed and discussed the choices of the skit's characters, putting the new vocabulary into action.
Our GATE classroom has nine Chromebooks available to share, and there are currently two Lowell students in 4th grade GATE. That leaves us five devices short this first Quarter. Any students that are willing and able to bring a personal or school-issued device to GATE would be appreciated. If carrying a device on the bus/etc is not a good fit for your child's needs, they are more than welcome to use a class Chromebook on GATE days.
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras, a Tello drone kit, Rubiks Cubes, graphic novels, and more enriching art and tech! (I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
