For the last two weeks, the 4th graders have been diving deep into human brain anatomy. They worked on teams of 3 to create giant brain brace maps that show the parts to whole relationships in the brain. They are learning the location and function of the following brain parts:

Brain stem, midbrain, pons, medulla oblogata, cerebral cortex, cerebrum, basal ganglia, corpus callosum, frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, temporal lobe, motor cortex, somatosensory cortex, diencephalon, thalamus, hypothalamus, posterior pituitary gland, and cerebellum. WHEW!

The teams worked together to complete the success criteria for the project and then created a one-take video explaining what was on their poster. Most of the posters have been added to their Book Creator portfolios, and they will be practicing giving feedback and self-assessing their work next week.
