Today, was the last day of VR programming lessons with Mr Durfee of BSU. The students practiced creating a Mario-style game. They have full subscriptions to Blocksmith until early January, so they are encouraged to use the program to create VR words and games over break!

Today the 6th graders also reflected on their work in GATE over the last semester and set goals for next semester. They answered a series of questions on their digital portfolios to help them lead a parent-student conference at your convenience before the start of 2nd semester. I will reach out if there are any problems I am noticing with a student in GATE, but feel free to shoot me an email or call if you have any specific questions or would like to hear nice things about your child!

After answering their reflection questions, the 6th graders were instructed to practice presenting their work with a classmate before resuming work on their poetry memorization challenge. Some students also created artwork to accompany their poem or researched interpretations of the poem they selected. 

Today was the last GATE class of the semester! I will actually have a substitute teacher on Monday January 10th, so please let me know if you student will not be attending GATE that day, so I can adequately prepare the teacher and materials. Thank you for a great first semester!
