Today we continued where we left off on our Relationship social/emotional unit. We really zoomed in on analyzing the differences between introverted and extroverted personalities. How might different people react to conflict on a team? How might different people react to being the center of attention? How might different people need to recharge?
Students also started a 4-part personality profile art piece. After tracing their facial profile, they filled in 1/4 of their silhouette with a Kandinsky-style abstract design representing their mix of extroversion and introversion. We will continue with this work over the next few weeks, but we'll also start using our Foldscopes for scientific investigation!
We finished the day with a teamwork challenge where students had to work together to place a marker into a cup or a smaller hole cut in the bottom of the cup. As teams' teamwork and communication improved, they were given tougher goals such as completing the challenge without talking or having teammates close their eyes!
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras, a Tello drone kit, Rubiks Cubes, graphic novels, and more enriching art and tech! (I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
