The 5th graders finished their Genius Hour projects today and three groups were able to present. Our first presentation was by Harrison, Parker, and Bodhi. They presented a business website and Shark Tank pitch to the class for their drop ship shoe website called Sik Kiks. The second group comprised of Otis and Karsten who researched traditional houses from three different regions and built models of each type of house. The third group was Bennett, Johnny, and August (absent today.) They had to present without August due to the timing of borrowing PE supplies. They researched the popularity of baseball, and the designed a brand new PE game that incorporated the biggest reasons they found for baseball's popularity. We finished the day by workshopping their game outside (while only battling a little bit of wind, rain, and hail.)
Today was my last day with the 5th graders this year since I have to attend a training all day next Tuesday. Best wishes this summer and to the students that are transitioning out of GATE for their 6th grade year!
I didn't get any photos of us playing their game because we were having too much fun! Whoops!
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education. A big purchase, I have my eye on is a set of classroom cameras for the 3rd grade photography unit and to help other students with self-expression and documenting the progress of their project work.
If you would like to help fund our tech needs, supplies for students, brain puzzles, etc, please click on the link below to donate to my Boise Foundation Account. I upgraded and added a ton of classroom supplies this summer with donations from last year, so thank you so much for those donations! [LOWELL/GATE/GABRIELLI,AUDREY]
