The 3rd graders made huge progress on their sewing and persistence skills today! We shifted our lesson format from last week to better accommodate the variety of sewing skills in the classroom. We started by co-creating the success criteria for the project. We realized that our learning target wasn't to be the world's best sewers at the end of the project, but rather to show persistence, patience, and ignore perfectionism. Each table also created a visual rubric for their stuffy quality. That way, students were able to more accurately self-assess their work.
Most students were able to finish their projects and add a reflection to their Book Creator portfolios. On their portfolio post, students should have shown off their work, assessed the quality on their 4-point scale, and given a specific example of when they showed persistence, patience, and/or ignored perfectionism. A handful of students will complete this work next week. Definitely check them out!
We're all set on building materials and snacks for the time being! Thank you so much for all of the generous donations!
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras (~$100 ea) and Rubiks Cubes ($12)! Please click on the link below to donate to my Boise Foundation Account. [LOWELL/GATE/GABRIELLI,AUDREY]
