It has been so great having this vivacious group of 3rd graders back in the GATE class this year! This year's theme is transformation, so we will be examining lots of different ways that things change, starting with how our mindset can change to better navigate challenging situations. Enter, the Learning Pit! In addition to get to know you activities, the students worked on teams to create a creative skit about falling into and escaping a giant pit. Building off of an earlier activity called "It looks like a... but it's actually a..." the teams used craft supplies to help them devise an escape plan!
Next week, we will begin discussions about using tools to help us navigate challenging situations, just like they did in their skits.
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education. A big purchase, I have my eye on is a set of classroom cameras for the 3rd grade photography unit and to help other students with self-expression and documenting the progress of their project work.
