Today, after a lively get-to-know-you game, the first graders started by finishing up their inventions, books, and Book Creator portfolio posts from last week's work. They then were introduced to four of the Habits of Mind--Managing Impulsivity, Thinking Flexibly, Finding Humor, and Striving for Accuracy.
The students were given the challenge to use their Maker Boxes to create a sculpture that represented one of the four Habits of Mind that they learned about. Then, the rest of the class tried to guess which Habit they were trying to represent. The students did a phenomenal job working together and thinking abstractly on this challenge! At Choice Time, students chose to read, fold origami, play Rubics Race, play tricky triangle, and play mancala.
We're all set on building materials and snacks for the time being! Thank you so much for all of the generous donations!
As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras (~$100 ea) and Rubiks Cubes ($12)! Please click on the link below to donate to my Boise Foundation Account. [LOWELL/GATE/GABRIELLI,AUDREY]
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY DONATED!
IT WILL BE PUT TO GOOD USE RIGHT AWAY!
(I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
