This week at GATE the students started by self-evaluating their brain brace map projects in the Book Creator portfolios. We then played a quick brain anatomy review game called reverse charades where two guessers stand at the front of the room while everyone else acts out something for them to guess. The rest of our day was spent creating two brain models a brain hat and play dough brains. Both of these pieces were added to student portfolios as well.
We're only a couple classes away from dissection day! I can't for students to have the opportunity to see all of this anatomy they have been studying up close!
I'm on the hunt for a few experts to join our class in person or via video chat. If you or someone you know would be interested, please let me know!
Professional(s) who use microscopy or microbiology in their work to teach the 5th graders about their job [Needed sometime before winter break]
A professional who know a lot about brains! (Bonus if you have any way to show the 4th graders a human brain...) [Needed sometime before winter break]
Someone who uses drones for their work (or potentially recreation) to talk about their job with the 5th graders (Bonus if you could fly for us!) [Needed during 3rd quarter]

As we begin our school year and face new challenges, we are seeking new ways to enrich your child's education both in person and virtually. Our current wish list includes a set of classroom cameras (~$100 ea) and Rubiks Cubes ($12)! Please click on the link below to donate to my Boise Foundation Account. [LOWELL/GATE/GABRIELLI,AUDREY]
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THOSE WHO ALREADY DONATED!
IT WILL BE PUT TO GOOD USE RIGHT AWAY!
(I'll start posting as soon as I have confirmed which students from each school are on the No Photo List. Thanks for your patience!)
