This week the 2nd and 3rd graders reflected on their work in GATE over the last semester and set goals for next semester. They answered a series of questions on their digital portfolios to help them lead a parent-student conference at your convenience before the start of 2nd semester. I will reach out if there are any problems I am noticing with a student in GATE, but feel free to shoot me an email or call if you have any specific questions or would like to hear nice things about your child!

After answering their reflection questions, the 2nd and 3rd graders were instructed to practice presenting their work with a classmate before resuming work on their poetry memorization challenge. 

Students also got the opportunity today to work through a 5-part earthquake engineering lab where they tested the strength of different styles of buildings on an earthquake simulation shake table. Some students chose to then test some of their own designs, and they drew conclusions why there are so many ancient pyramids still around and not as many other styles of structures!

This was the last GATE class of the semester. I'm excited to start our work with bridges in January! Thank you for a great first semester!
