Today the 2nd grade students started their day either exploring the Artemis Mission resources on NASA's website (if they were finishing their agamograph last week) or preparing lessons for the class about the Artemis Missions (if they were finished with their agamographs last week.) We then had several students present their research to the class and we watched a few videos on Artemis I and II.
For the second part of class, the students learned what a net is in mathematics and applied that knowledge to design their own 3D paper SLS/Orion rocket. The students enjoyed the challenge and being in the Learning Pit as they translated the 2D images of the rocket into a series of nets and then into a 3D model.
The last class will be May 12th.
Adults who would be willing to video chat or stop by the 1st grade class and share about their career, especially if it is a STEM career! If you are willing to hold a Q and A with the students, I can design classwork to accompany your job. Or, if you would like to teach the students something, that's great too! Last year, we had fun learning about architecture, wildlife biology, computer coding, and several other careers. I can't wait to see what we can put together for the students this year!
