Last week, the 4th graders worked on teams to create detailed giant posters outlining the form and function of the brain. They then produced and created videos presenting what they had learned.
This week, they watched each other's videos, practiced leaving positive, inquisitive, and productive comments on videos and then prepared for the event they have all been waiting for... BRAIN DISSECTIONS!
We had a ton of fun with this challenge by choice piece of work. While a couple students attempted to build a detailed brain model in the hallway, most students followed a dissection guide as they worked to identify the parts of the brain they have been studying the past few weeks. There was a lot of bravery to try something new and push out of comfort zones. Amazing job, 5th graders!
UPCOMING: There will be no GATE the week of November 29-December 3.
Keep scrolling if you are interested in seeing some shots of their dissection work!
