My name is Jordan Miller. Born on Oahu; Raised on Kaua'i. I attended and graduated from Kapa'a High School (Class of 2020); Went to Kaua'i Community College and then after getting my Associates Degree I transferred to the University of West Oahu which I am getting my Bachelors Degree. If I were an artist's tool I would be the camera; The camera films and records beauty whether it's in pictures or videos. The camera is a digital media artist's modern tool in which they can use as a "canvas" for there art and for there work to thrive. Why I chose this tool / piece of technology is that being a media student a lot of my art is digitized and putting any piece of digitized work onto the internet is like adding a piece to a puzzle.
Creative Media (CM) offers strong potential for economic growth on Kauai, Maui, and Hawai‘i Island. Strengthening local video production, photography, and social media content can boost tourism and give voice to community-driven stories. Local vloggers and digital creators are shaping the next generation of media, while professional photography supports industries like weddings and travel. As AI becomes increasingly relevant, leveraging island resources can enhance storytelling and highlight each island’s unique appeal. With investment in CM tools and technology, these islands can thrive as creative hubs driving Hawai‘i’s future economy.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
