Aloha! My name is Brient Kealoha Hutchinson. Most of my life was on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi. To be more exact I grew up mostly from Waipahu. I attended Waipahu High School and graduated in 2018. I originally applied to attend Leeward Community college first, since restraint of finances on my part and to just get my foot in the door. However, I also applied to the University of Hawai’i - Oʻahu and I was accepted here first. Furthermore, I learned about the Academy of Creative Media and I was very interested in the program. I am happy and proud to be a student at UHWO! If I had the chance to be an artist’s tool, I would like to be a pen. For this reason, “the pen is mightier than the sword,” in other words, a lot can be achieved in writing than force, since everything begins with an idea. More so, I like to keep notes, records, catalogs, and create visuals to help stay organized. Technically, I utilized my laptop to keep track of everything with my whole senior capstone project, but at the same time I considered writing things down and making sure that I can show my creativity.
This research explored how social media negatively impacts Generation Z during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. While digital natives have constant access to communication and information, prolonged social media use has been linked to mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and narcissism. COVID-19 has further influenced social media use, potentially at the expense of in-person interactions. Possible solutions include engaging in proactive and productive activities, reducing social media use, and increased education on its effects.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
