Hi! My name is Isabel. I'm Ewa Beach girl born and raised and have always been family-oriented - I love spending time with my mom, dad, sister, and of course two doggos too. At the same time, I also enjoy time with my friends! Going out to get boba and souffle pancakes are some of my favorite pastimes. As an Ewa Beach resident, I attended James Campbell High School for secondary education, however, I started off my college career at Seattle University prior to covid. Living away from home was quite an adventure, but, after covid hit I decided to come home to be closer to loved ones and decided to transfer to UH West where I pursued my passion for design. If I were an artistʻs tool, I'd say a pencil! I live life simply (i.e. a pencil is a simple and basic tool), but when I'm determined to get something done, I complete my tasks with everything I've got (i.e. although basic, pencil's help you to accomplish/create many things).
The field of design is a multifaceted discipline that defies a singular definition. Due to its elusive nature, it is often misunderstood by the general public. Design, in fact, goes beyond conventional conceptions and is responsible for the unobtrusive and seamless experiences of our everyday lives. Conversely, when issues arise, design is frequently held accountable. This study delves into the specificities of two design practices - user interface and graphic design - and compares them. The inquiry illuminates the essential philosophies that underpin the design field and how diverse design practices share these core values, regardless of their intended outcome.
The concept of creativity has come a long way. The Old Greeks would call those creative forces muses, other religions referred to them as God. Today people still mostly treat creativity as an aha moment outside the area of influence. However, just by looking at the creative process one can tell, that creativity and creative work is more than just that one "Aha-Moment" (insight). It is clear that generating ideas demands planning and preparation, identifying something of interest like a problem, an opportunity or a challenge, doing research. This then leads to thinking of a solution, allowing time to incubate and iterations before arriving at something “complete.” Students learn that hard work is what makes their ideas come to life and sticktuiveness is what helps them get better.
